Recognizing that many couples today feel disenfranchised from religious institutions yet still desire a spiritual dimension to their wedding, Cathy will meet with you both to discuss your hopes for your special event.

Once you contract Cathy’s services as marriage officiant, she will provide step-by-step directions on how to get a marriage license, information about the process of marriage registration in Ontario and how to get your official marriage certificate. Based on the ceremony you want, Cathy will provide numerous resources for couples who wish to create their own unique wedding – readings, suggested music, rituals within the ceremony that might involve children, family and/or friends, materials to assist with the creation of personal vows and sample ceremonies.

Cathy will provide information about settings for various marriages, providing her own space on the shores of the gently flowing Ottawa River for smaller, private venues.

She will be available for ongoing consultation either by phone or by email.

She will meet again with the couple 2 -3 months before the wedding to complete all required paperwork to register the marriage in Ontario.

Most importantly, Cathy will be present on your big day early enough to meet and greet family and friends and to provide a welcoming atmosphere so that you can relax and enjoy this wonderful day!

How To Book Cathy's Services

Cathy's fee is $250 (plus mileage). To book her services, please send a minimum $50 deposit to:

This will confirm Cathy's services for your date and time of the wedding. She will then contact you to set up a meeting time to begin the process of preparing your ceremony.

The remaining $200 balance must be paid prior to the wedding.

Marriages in Ontario

You receive this Record of Marriage from Cathy after the celebration You may apply for your marriage license at the municipal office of the Ontario town or city within which you live, or by using this link to online services. Your marriage licence is valid for 90 days. At least one party to the proposed marriage must apply in person. Two pieces of valid identification are required for each applicant, and the application must be signed by both parties to the contract.

You need not have a marriage licence to schedule a date with Cathy, however Ontario law requires you must have a marriage licence with you on your scheduled wedding day.

You apply for this official Marriage Certificate at least 90 days after the marriage celebration Following the ceremony, Cathy will provide you with both a Record of Solemnization of Marriage and the necessary steps as required by law to acquire an official Certificate of Marriage. She will also officially register your marriage with the province.
